 Strawberries are delicious and in the UK we know that it’s summer when the strawberries come out. Strawberries have a taste that varies by cultivar, and ranges from quite sweet to acidic. Strawberries have significantly high amounts of phenolic flavonoid phyto-chemicals called anthocyanins and ellagic acid. Scientific studies show that consumption of straw berries may have potential health benefits against cancer, aging, inflammation and neurological diseases. contain good amount of minerals like potassium, manganese, fluorine, copper, iron and iodine. Potassium in an important component of cell and body fluids that helps controlling heart rate and blood pressure. Manganese is used by the body as a co-factor for the super powerful antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase which helps to prevent free radical damage. You should be careful when buying strawberries as they are often sprayed quite heavily when they are being grown which is unfortunate.. Always, as ever, buy organic and wash thoroughly. It take quite allot of strawberries to make a glass of juice, and it will be high in sugar, so I only really use strawberries in smoothies. Strawberries are good for your overall health though so include some organic strawberries into you diet!
