Fat Loss

Fat Loss

The number one resolution every January is fat loss. Loosing fat is a HUGE industry. Literally we spend BILLIONS of ££££ per year on trying to get rid of excess fat.

In our Diets section I covered briefly my personal views on diet, and the different types of diets that there are. There is a massive range of diets out there to choose from. One reason is because there is more than just one way to loose fat. In this section ill go over some methods I have used and liked.

Here goes the disclaimer again though – Remember to ALWAYS consult with your GP before starting any new diet or exercise routine. Any information on this web site is my own opinion and not specific advice for any one.

There are a million various types of diet out there. It seems every minute some one thinks up another angle to make money from people trying to loose unwanted fat. Normally people sell you some thing. A pill, a potion, a points scoring system!! You must remember that there are absolutely NO silver bullets. There is no magic when it comes to loosing fat.

Although debates still rage on between nutritional experts about the very best way to eat and to loose fat, there are some simple rules that work and you can use but don’t get caught up in marketing hype!

Some simple rules i like to stick to are listed below.

  1. Drop refined, simple sugars – White bread, Pasta, cakes, sweets etc
  2. Add LOTS of green veg
  3. increase your protein
  4. Increase your consumption of good fats – Olive oil, Fish oils (Omega 3’s) some saturated fat – Egg yolk.
  5. Use as many herbs and spices as you can
  6. If you can. split your three big meals per day and split them into two meals each.

Expending more calories that you consume is probably the most basic and understood method for loosing weight but its not the full story. Controlling blood sugar is a must. Refined sugars, spike insulin in the body and this is an easy way to store fat. not only that but if you take on board saturated fats with your refined sugars, you have allot of oxidative stress at a cellular level.

To stop blood sugar from spiking, eat only small amounts of carbs, even the so called good ones like brown rice or brown pasta, and eat them with some form of fat and some protein.

  1. I like to eat along the lines of the zone diet. I don’t like to ‘Diet’ as such. A Diet will only last for a period of time and we really need to change our eating habits rather than ‘Diet’.

To keep thing simple, Eat foods from the following list for three weeks and see what happens to your body.

Eggs, Turkey, Chicken, Lean beef, Lean pork, Fish, Cottage cheese, Broccoli, Cauliflower,Green Beans, Asparagus, Sprouts, Cabbage, Lettuce, Cucumber, Celery, Onion, olive oil, Butter, Coconut oil, Mac nut oil, peanut oil, Fish oils.

If you can stick to eating only those food items (with lots of herbs and spices) After week two you should have one cheat meal of anything you like. After week three you can Begin to add other food items into the diet unless you are still very over weight.

Supplement with a good full spectrum multi vit & min tab and you may also consider taking extra Zink, Selenium, Vitamins A,C,D,E Vitamin B6&12

Try not to fry foods favouring grilling, boiling, broiling oven baking etc. And don’t forget to USE LOTS OF HERBS. Herbs contain many many constituents that help our digestive system, increase circulation and elimination of toxins and metabolic waste etc. You may even find that you get a slight helping hand with thermogenesis.

I will put together and actual step by step guide if requested. Hope this helps a bit! Email me if you have any questions

UPDATE 30/11/2010

OK the above is a quick over view, I will now add a little more information. There can be many reasons why you are fat. Hormonal reasons, bio chemical reasons, physiological reasons, geographical reasons, educational reasons, economic reasons… the excuses, can go on and on.

The fact of the matter is, 99% of the time it is plain and simple – You eat too much of the wrong foods. OR your lazy, or both. A slow thyroid will impair your ability to loose weight, too much estrogen will help you gain fat etc BUT! there are very few people that REALLY eat well, exercise and don’t look like they should.

The name of this site is Live Longer Live Stronger for a reason. Lifting weights, or weight resistant exercise is very good for you. and EVERY ONE should do some form of resistance exercise at least 5 days per week. I’m not talking squatting 600lbs, just something like for older people, squeezing a tennis ball and curling some bags of sugar.

The same goes for any one loosing fat. You wont become muscle bound TRUST ME.

OK, so you must take some exercise, resistance and some cardio should do it. what cardio? run, walk, row, swim, just make sure you raise your heartbeat and get out of breath at least a little. There are scientific ways to measure how many heart beats per minute you should be aiming for, but for now we are talking about keeping it simple! and EVERY ONE can do this. You will have to work out for yourself how much resistance training and walking, running etc that you can start off with, but do something.

Again we want to keep this simple. There are fifty million (a guess) diet books and articles out there that can tell you 1000 different ways to work out how many calories you need and as many if not more ways to loose fat. Some say you HAVE to do this, or HAVE to do that, but in reality there is more than one way to do it, so don’t buy 100% into any idea. What you may find is that one way, say low carb eating may seem to work better for you, if that’s so, great stick with it, but over time you may wish to try various ways of eating to find which way best suits you.

Is a calorie a calorie? that is to say does it matter if you take on board 1000 calories from Carbohydrates compared to 1000 calories from protein. The answer is NO a calorie is not a calorie, and YES it is… Confused? Trying to keep it simple lets look at what a calorie is… it is a measure of heat. a way of determining how much energy is produced when consuming say, 1 gram of protein. or 1 gram of carbs. We all know that 1 gram of protein consists of 4 calories just like 1 gram of carbohydrates. We also know that 1 gram of most fats has 9 calories. In that respect a calorie is a calorie. However, take on board an extra 150 grams of sugar every day for the next six months and compare that with taking on an extra 150 grams of protein, then take a look at the difference in body composition after.

the source of the calories is very important. Carbs , proteins and fats all act differently when inside the body and therefore so do their respective calories. Sugar (simple carbohydrates) cause blood sugar levels to rise, and to rise sharply and aggressively which in turn causes the body, via the pancreas, to release insulin into the blood stream to shuttle that sugar some where safe like within muscle cells or into fat cells!. The problem is also that when you get a high blood sugar spike the body often over compensates and shoots out a mega dose of insulin. This is a perfect fat producing environment, but probably more serious is that this effect over the years causes inflammation on a cellular level and this, modern science is discovering, is the leading cause of most major diseases! not only that but the more this happens, the more de-sensitised you become so your body ends up having to produce more and more insulin to get the same effect as before……. a process that more and more today is leading to type 2 diabetes.

Protein does not cause this blood sugar rise live carbohydrates do, neither does fat. However, too much of anything will cause a large blood sugar and insulin spike. Also, 30 grams of protein from a chicken breast will be different than say, 30 grams of protein from a whey protein shake. (whey protein shakes have been shown to spike insulin levels comparable to carbs)

So what to do? Well as they say there is more than one way to skin a cat. Some experts will still avoid fat like the plague whilst dieting, some people eat only fat and protein. I think the healthiest thing to do is some thing similar to the Zone diet,

As a general rule of thumb, and I mean VERY general, a man should try keep calories per meal to 500 or less (of course this can vary massively, but this is a good number to start with, you can adjust from there) and a woman should try to keep each meals calories to around 400 calories and you should mix protein, good fats, carbs and fibre in each meal. Try to get around 30% of your calories from carbs, 30% from fat and 40% from protein. Now, there are tests you can do to see if you are better suited to consuming (and using for fuel) more proteins or more carbs. You can try this out on other sites, I will be looking into this more myself and if I feel it is valid I will put some information and resources up on here…….

Here are some more little tips that should help you change your body composition and in a healthy, not too restrictive manner Please remember these are very general guidelines and you should adjust as needed according to results.

1) Keep calories to around 500 per meal for men – 400 for women and up to 6 meals for active men per day and 5 meals  for active women. Take one meal off for non active people. Take away another meal if fat is not moving after two weeks..

2) Make sure that at least 30% of the calories of each meal is made up by a good source of protein. Try to make it 40% and no more than 50%

3) Get at least 10% of calories for each meal from a health fat source. Try to make it 20% (15% for women) and no more than 40% (30% for women)

4) Try not to get more than 50% of your calories per meal from carbs. Aim for only 25 to 30%

5)  try to get 20 to 30 grams of fiber per day from vegetables, fruits,  grains, pulses etc. If you suffer from IBS you may need to adjust this.

6)  take  a good probiotic supplement  and try the Charles Poliquin Test  to see if you are producing  enough stomach acid to digest your food.

7) if money allows, add a full spectrum enzyme to your supplement regime.

8) CHEW YOUR FOOD! why the caps? well its such a simple, basic thing that we all should do but most of us really don’t, Digestion begins in the mouth, think of yourself as a walking juicer machine. Your food should be a liquefied sludge by the time it slips down your throat!

9) Make sure your getting all the main anti oxidants – Vit A, C, E, Selenium, Zink etc. your fat cells are like time capsules and contain toxins that your body stored in there some time ago. When your fat cells open and releases it’s stored energy it also outs it toxins. That means a rush of toxins in the blood so you will need a good lot of anti oxidants to do the mopping up.

10) Clean the liver. For the same reason as above, the liver is very important and has many many roles within the body, relating to enzymes, hormones, vitamins etc a sluggish liver can impede your ability to utilize fat for energy optimally, so help it out.

11) Herbal Teas are a great help. We don’t normally use milk or sugar when we drink herbal teas so straight away there is a positive. Also, herbs contain various chemical constituents that have many beneficial effects on the body. This has been seen for literally thousands of years through what we know as herbalism, but also we now have science catching up and we are identifying individual chemicals within the herbs and what their specific effect is on the body. take cayenne pepper and green tea infusion to help cleanse the body and improve blood flow to every cell you have. Use Dandelion and burdock to stimulate the gall bladder to produce bile to help digest fat, to support the liver cells so they can function fully and to cleanse the blood. And much much more.

12) Juicing is a modern day marvel and in my eyes and extension to herbalism. Extracting the juice from plants, fruits and vegetables gives us mega doses of powerful nutrition. Packed with Vitamins, Minerals, LIVE ENZYMES (more about those another time), amino acids, natural sugars (not always a good thing) as well as anti oxidant chemicals, juicing can help your body function better as a whole. Juicing can help cleanse the liver, boost immune system, improve digestion, and all within around 15 minuets of consuming a juice! Most of us are over fed and under nourished so juicing helps to bring back the balance. BE careful not to juice too many fruits or sweet veg as these contain sugar that can effect your blood sugar and insulin levels. Go for dark green veg, with a little carrot, apple, and/or beetroot to sweeten things up and add their own powerful nutrients.

13) Sleep is very important. Your body rests, and recharges while we sleep, it also goes through specific cleaning stages throughout the night. Miss out on this and you are taking a step backwoods. Also, the first few early hours of sleep is when your body releases most of its GH or Growth Hormone. GH is associated with many functions in the body but the best part is that it can help preserve lean muscle tissue and help burn fat

Rob Regish Profile Page

   Rob Regish

As mentioned on the intro, I have not known about Rob for that long but I have seen and heard enough from Rob to make me think this man may just be one of the people that will be remembered for a long time.  If you are looking to loose fat, build muscle improve sports specific performance, health or any number of other reasons then check out rob, his Blue Print protocol and his forum for personal support where rob himself will reply to any post yuou make there normally within  24 hours! Now that is service.

What I like about Rob Regish is his personal effort to help people on his forum acheive their goals, he want you to achieve your goals, I mean really wants you to! Therefore you know the research he has put into his  protocol The Blue Print has been painstakinly put together. Rob has even put together a new (very new at the time of writing this) supplement to help enhance the effects of his training and nutritional protocols and the early signs are that this could be a HUGE supplement in the Bodubuilding/muscle and fitness arena. The product can be found  HERE Rob Garuantees results and you have to have sme confidance for that. I could go on but I don’t want to sound like one huge advertisement  (although that is the point I guess). I want to do a Q&A with Rob when we can find time but below are some comments about Rob from various places. This list was copied from the Super human Radio website which you can find by clicking HERE

“20lbs in just over a month. I am once again speechless at the power of this program. This program not only

gives incredible knowledge but also is one of the few out there that deliver results. I literally had all of my expectations exceeded about the BP and couldn’t be happier”.

Dracomuscle – A certified personal trainer:

“The Blueprint along with coaching from Rob helped me gain again and taught me to listen to my body. I thought I new it all, I’m well read and will soon be a certified personal trainer. Rob has shed a new light on what I do, and will do for the rest of my life. I have run this program three times and have seen gains in some way shape or form each time”.

Sloop’s Bodybuilding.com feedback, upon initially reading The Blueprint:

“I’ve always been curious as to what all the hype is about, just how much information is included, what information is included, etc.

Even if my lifts don’t improve by 1 pound, the amount of information to learn from in 1 document is staggering and worth the money. Hell, I’ve spent 5x the price for college textbooks that weren’t this helpful”.

By Dr. P. – Thermolife Scientific Advisor

“With regards to blueprint: It is definitely not just another program. It is very different from everything I haveseen from the ‘popular programs’ crowd because it tuned and tweaked to lead into repeated states of borderline-overtraining and then to cut back on training stress just in the right moment in order to have the optimal growth stimulus. The addition of a strong adaptogen then fortifies and speeds up recuperation and regeneration tremendously, allowing for some insane gains within relatively short periods of time.”

“I bought the Blueprint back in september of this year and I was a little skeptical. I had just tested my bench press for work and pushed 270 lbs. I was happy with that but wanted a little more. I started to do the BP and after halfway through I was doing 290, and it appears that I will benching 315 – 320 here next week. I am more than happy with BluePrint and can’t wait to start my next run through.

If you haven’t bought this great ebook then you need to do it now”.

“I was also skeptical. Very skeptical. But I’ve been going by the book, and am making great gains. I had been plateaued for months. In the last 5 weeks of the BP, I’ve added 15 lbs to my bench press, and 25 lbs on my squat. And I’m expecting to add another 5% to both in the next 4 weeks. The three things I really like about it are:

 1) The program. The routines are laid out to give you exactly what you need when you need it. When I was fee

ling battered, a deload day magically appeared. When I was feeling awesome, the plan stepped it up. The workouts are planned in a way that you can’t help but get stronger.

 2) The supplements. I’ve never been a believer in supplements, but decided to give them a try. I used to get horrible leg DOMS. Even after working legs consistently for a year, I couldn’t walk right for three days after leg day. It really held back my progress, as I dreaded doing legs, and always had to plan it around things I was doing in my life.

With the Blueprint, I’m doing double the leg volume, and my legs don’t get sore /at all/. Not even a little. I can feel them the next day, like they’re the good kind of tired. But I can hit each body part MUCH more often. And the supplements aren’t shotgunned, they’re strategic. Like the workouts, you get what you need when you need it.

 3) Mixelflick/Rob Regish. He redefines customer service. He’s right there every step of the way. You have a question, he answers it. You go off track, he offers a suggestion. He helps tailor the plan to fit you and your goals. And he’s a super nice guy that brings a sense of community and family to the whole process. Like a one man support group.

He also stands behind his product. If you are willing to put in the effort, he will make the BP work for you”

Paul Chek

Paul Chek

I can’t actually remember where I heard of Paul Chek for the first time. It was a while ago and I think he was talking about core stability exercises, or someone was referring to him with regards to them. So I didn’t think much more about it. Fast forward a few years and I have listened to hours of interview pod casts with Paul check, watched a good amount of hours of video / youtube footage and I think the man is a genius.

If I had not been studying various modes of health and nutrition for a while now I might have listened to some of what Paul talks about and thought it was to ‘wishy washy’ or a little “out there” but when you get to learn that our minds / emotions do play a huge role in our physical health, and that we are still attached to nature no matter how civilised and beyond all that we think we are, then with this in mind listening to Paul Chek opens your mind to world of consciousness. Hang on, now I sound like a tree hugging, teepee living hippy! don’t stop reading.

Paul Check talks the talk and walks the walk, he is ripped, muscular and at 50 years of age he trains and can allegedly out perform many of the professional athletes he trains. Paul has given lectures at the revered Price-Pottenger institute, he has a successful business training people to become Chek Practitioners and lectures all around the world. Listen to him speak and he is energetic, enthusiastic and about as well read as any one I have ever known. Paul can talk muscle building, fatloss, performance training and life coaching with the best of them, he can also talk environment, astrology, biochemistry, Chinese medicine, martial arts and on and on. As you can tell I have become a bit of a Chek fan, and for all the reasons I just wrote. Look on youtube and you can see, for free, hours of talks Paul has given which gives away MASSIVE amounts of knowledge, all delivered with passion and some laughs.

Will all that said Pauls latest book “How to live move and be healthy” has not made its was from my Amazon wish list to my hands yet as I literally have not had the time to read it and I want some time off from work and the usual daily madness to get stuck into it. It will however be here on the morning of the 25th of December (or the 24th depending what time Santa pops into leave it under my tree) and I have a week off work to inulge.

Check out Paul’s websites, face book, youtube and books and you will only come away being better educated and entertained.

If that don’t work just search for Paul Chek.

Polly Nobel

Polly Noble

only found out about Polly this year at The Truth Matters Conference. Polly gave a talk at the conference which was nothing more than a real life account of her own situation. Polly was a typical young, attractive girl living in London enjoying the city life, working and going out with friends enjoying some of what the city has to offer. At 24 years of age she was told that she had cancer. Most people are shocked to hear that news but at the age of 24 it must have been especially hard to hear! After going through some horrific and painful treatment Polly decided to take a different, more natural approach. Six years later Polly is inspiring people, giving talks and telling her story as well as working as a life coach. Polly is FULL of energy and I urge every one to check out her website and information.  Below is a short Q&A Polly was kind enough to do for me.  For more information or to contact Polly go to www.pollynoble.com

Hello Polly, I heard your story first hand at the conference TheTruthMatters and found it moving to hear how you have overcome a life threatening condition. Can you give people reading this a brief over view of what happened and how you first found out you had cancer?

I was originally diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2005 aged 24. I had a 3cm tumour on my cervix which unfortunately had also spread to my nodes around my pelvis area and a week later I had keyhole surgery for the removal of as many of the infected lymph nodes as possible. A few weeks later I began a course of simultaneous radiotherapy and chemotherapy for 6 weeks followed by brachytherapy (internal radiotherapy) which was horrendous! I then supposedly went into remission for 4 years but was left with a very weak immune system and was hospitalized twice in an many years with severe pneumonia.

During my second bout of pneumonia in December 2009, I found a small lump in my neck that turned out to be a malignant lymph node. As the cancer was systemic throughout my body, my oncologist told me that it was deemed “incurable” and that treatment such as radiotherapy may not make much difference.

It must have been unbelievably scary to have someone hand you that news. How did you come to chose to take your own path in your fight against it, going against the advice of the doctors. This must have been a very hard thing to do as I know that there can be allot of pressure to go down the ‘normal’ route of treatment?

Well, as the cancer was systemic throughout my body, my oncologist told me that it was deemed “incurable” and that treatment such as radiotherapy may not make much difference. Seeing as radiotherapy was going to be ineffective and knowing how awful I felt the last time I had conventional treatment I decided to research alternative ways of healing. I figured if the doctors couldn’t “fix” me, then I would fix myself! Over the years of recovering from cancer I have read a lot of material on cancer as well as studying at The Institute of Integrative Nutrition and I have come to the conclusion that plying the body with drugs isn’t always effective. I knew that the drugs used for chemotherapy were pretty lethal but I hadn’t really taken into account just how detrimental the treatment would be on my healthy cells and the toll it would take on my overall health not to mention the long term side-effects. I’m a big believer that things happen for a reason and soon after starting conventional treatment for the first lot of cancer, I read books such as Brandon Bays “The Journey” and Louise Hays “You Can Heal Your Life” and had an overwhelming feeling that I should have opted to heal myself naturally. But it was too late and I didn’t know enough back then or have the first idea of where to start. Having cancer was scary and I just went along with what the doctors suggested because I thought they had all the answers.

When my second diagnosis came around I instantly knew what I had to do. I felt that this was my opportunity to do what I probably should have done the first time around. This was my chance to show people that there is another way.

Who were/are the most influential people in helping you beat this with regards to the types of therapies that you used?

I am very open to trying all sorts of therapies and over the years have tried things from EFT to Shamanism, Past-Life Regression, Acupuncture, Kinesiology, MindDetox Method, Magnet Therapy, Healers, Reiki and I have been fortunate to be surrounded by people that want to help me offering their advice and expertise. I wouldn’t be without my acupuncturist or my meditation taught to me by Sandy Newbigging. (http://www.sandynewbigging.com/

How important do you believe a positive attitude in beating any potential life threatening condition?

I think a positive attitude is incredibly important as not only does it boost the immune system but it promotes healing on a cellular level. Choosing to be positive and live in peace regardless of what situation is occurring is key to health and happiness.

How would you advise a person that there are other methods out there to try, and how do you deal with the shocked/stunned reactions people respond with when you suggest that they don’t HAVE to be radiated or cut open?

It’s rare that people react negatively to what I’m doing and if they do, I don’t take it personally. Everyone has beliefs and are entitled to them so even if they are mean or negative, I send them love and forget about it! I have no time or desire to entertain that kind of energy.

If someone is looking for alternative options, I would suggest finding an integrative doctor who is knowledgeable about the illness as well as alternative therapies. There are also lots of charities like Yes To Life which provide support for people that are looking into other options.

What is the best advice you give to people when they tell you they have been recently told they have cancer?

Not to rush their decision of what treatment they have. So many people are terrified of the word cancer and quite often begin treatment within a week or two of their diagnosis. This happened to me and had I known what I know now, I would have taken more time to consider my options and research all the information widely available. Only when you have all the information, can you make an informed decision.

I understand you offer a service as a health coach, if some one would like to contact you for this, what’s the best way?

I work as a Holistic Health coach and nutritionist helping people to improve their health and happiness. I help people to bring into balance all areas of their life as ultimately the level of health and wellness you experience is determined by your relationships, career, physical activity, spirituality and of course food. My job is to help you create balance within all of these areas so you can start living a life you love.

Will you be talking at any other events in the near future?

Yes – I am scheduling some talks in London in September and October so to keep updated, sign up to my newsletter on pollynoble.com to be notified of upcoming events. I will also be talking at Truth Matters in Glasgow on September 17th.

Do you want to plug a website, Blog or any services you wish to tell people about?

My book The Cancer Journey – Positive Steps To help Yourself Heal is out in September www.thecancerjourneybook.com

Tony Pantalleresco.

Expertise: Herbalist, Alchamist, Nutrition, Health Polotics and more

Here he is again. When I was thinking of putting this page together I was thinking about the men you will see below that I have read articles from and listened to, some over years and some more recently, but all with good, solid information that tweaked my interest or taught me something new. It wasn’t until I listened to one of Tony’s older shows recently when I remembered just how much great information he has when it comes to all things nutritional. Tony has done consultations for body-builders over in Canada and deals with people on a daily basis with all kinds of ailments from fat accumulation issues to colds to cancer. He understands nutrition and the human body so well that he always seems to be a few steps ahead of the ‘health industry, which is normally years ahead of the mainstream media…. One thing that impresses me with Tony is that he never gets court up with the hype of any particular product or new super food or super nutrient! He looks at the science and research behind it and makes up his own mind. Ask him about omega 3 oils, and he will tell you right out what he thinks of the modern to praise fish oil supplements for impeccable health!! No BS just straight to the point with facts and no bias.

Take a look at him on youtube by searching for HERBSPLUSBEADSWORK. There are over 40 videos up I believe. You can follow his radio shows on www.themicroeffect.com and you can find LOOOOOADS of information oh his site http://augmentinforce.50webs.com/ where you can also find his radio show scripts, telephone number for information or consultations, his shops address, and the list goes on.

Again, I found Peter through Super Human Radio and when you hear him speak it doesn’t take any time to realise that he is an intelligent man that knows what he is talking about. If you check out his blog site http://coachrouse.wordpress.com/ you will find a ton of great information on training, supplements, nutrition etc but also other topics are highlighted like the governments plan to take away our right to supplements and even herbs and spices!!!

Anyway check out coach Rouse and you will not be disappointed.

Robb Wolf

Expertise: Biochemist, Nutrition specialising in ancesteral diet for improving MANY diseases.

Robb Wolf is someone I found fairly recently. I had heard him on radio before but recently found his Paleo Solutions Podcast. I have not read Rob’s book yet, I have just ordered it but after listening to hours of information from him I know it’s going to be good. Rob is a bio chemist that has a real understanding of how nutrition works in the body. Not only that but he comes across very grounded, down to earth and speaks in layman’s termsand not in a purely scientific manner, which for allot of people can be hard to follow. The message is simple with Robb, Eat more vege, meat, fruit and some nuts, DON’T eat Grains, Legumes, milk, beans and anything containing gluten = suffer less health problems and therefore essentially live longer, perform better and look better. Behind this simple message is an impressive depth of knowledge and I think anyone will take something positive from reading / listening to Mr Wolf. http://robbwolf.com/

Paul Chek

Expertise:Nutrition, life coach, training. Paul has knowledge on many many many subjeects.

Whacky, genius, living legend, nut-case and many more phrases have been used to describe Paul Chek. I have listened to Paul give interviews and i can see why he gets branded so many titles but I can honestly say he is a mound of knowledge. Paul can talk of a ridiculous number of topics with the best in the business. Some know him as the guy that made standing on a Swiss ball whilst squatting weights famous, but Paul’s has so much more to him. I have added more information to his own page so CLICK HERE to find out more and get links to Paul’s web sites.

He gives information straight up and is a little easier to follow thank Dr Connelly.

Mauro with all this behind him and with all he has achieved still comes across as very grounded and will reply to emails personally and will offer extra help if you have questions about his diet or supplements. Well worth checking out his web site and just look around the internet and you will find thousands of people that have had great success on his metabolic diet and anabolic diet. http://www.metabolicdiet.com/

Dr Connelly spends most of his time talking with his peer sit seems and some times can be hard to follow when listening to him on the radio, but it is well worth listening to him as all the information he gives is valuable. Will Brink – Welcome to the Brink Zone

Expertise: Nutrition and Training

Will Brink is someone I have seen articles about over the years and enjoyed reading but I have never actually followed him or researched him. Recently I found his site http://www.brinkzone.com/ And I signed up to his news letter. Will has an impressive back ground, having written for most of the top body building and fitness magazines as well as being one of the first people to bring some of the most commonly used sports supplements today to the masses, such as creatine.

On his web site Will has lots of video clips where its just him talking about the science and facts of many supplements. Here is a clip I like, a simple thing that most weekend warriors ignore about creatine http://www.brinkzone.com/?s=creatine I like the fact that Will sits in front of the camera, all very informal and there for the world to see. I think it makes him seem more trustworthy! Any way, lots of video clips and information there so check him out and learn some stuff!

Mike Mahler

Expertise:Kettle Bell Training, Nutrition, Vegan Nutrition

Mike is another man I have read articles from etc and enjoyed but never followed up. Mike too has written for many popular bodybuilding and fitness magazines. It was Recently that I have heard him on Super Human Radio and found him to be more than just another so called guru talking about how many grams of protein you need to build muscle! . Mike has some good functional training and diet philosophies and doesn’t just talk about hard core weight training and building muscle. Mike uses natural products such as herbs and spices and amino acid to help detoxify the body, reduce inflammation, balance hormones and he talks about health and longevity too. I like this about mike and that is why he is here. I will be doing some more research on mike as I have not read all of his training articles but i look forward to doing so in my time off over Christmas. Check him out here – http://www.mikemahler.com/

I found out about the Life Extension Group on Carl Lanore’s Super human Radio. They really know their science and their forum is a great place to go to communicate with some great minds. Rather than me try to explain what they are about, here is the first bit of their info from their page.

“The Life Extension Foundation is a nonprofit organization, whose long-range goal is the extension of the healthy human lifespan. In seeking to control aging, our objective is to develop methods to enable us to live in vigor, health and wellness for an unlimited period of time. The Life Extension Foundation was officially incorporated in 1980, but its founder has been involved in anti aging research since the 1960s.

The Life Extension Foundation is the largest organization dedicated to investigating every method of extending the healthy human life span. When seeking methods to slow aging, The Foundation often uncovers potential anti-aging supplements to treat conditions associated with aging”

I will say that looking at their site it is easy to think they are just another company looking for an angle to sell supplements. I believe there is more to them than that. The research they have done is at the forefront on the longevity science that is about right now and a side effect of their quest has lead to discoveries of various better modes of testing for certain diseases and natural ways to fight against chronic disease with an emphasis on nutrition and plant based supplements.

If you join up for their magazine you get a few months free PLUS you get access to their doctors via the phone or email AND you get to sit in on free webinars. I have not joined myself (cash is tight) but I will very soon. I am in the UK but I will still phone them if I need advise.

Check it out and give me your feed back.

The Natural Nurse Ellen Kamhi

Expertise: Nuturopathic medicine, and intergrated knowledge of modern nursing

Ellen is another person I was introduced to via Super Human Radio. I was trying to get in contact with Jay Kordich to be on a show dedicated to the late great Jack lalanne but That didn’t happen. When I listened to the show I have never heard of Ellen before. I was pleasantly surprised to hear how well informed, and full of life she is. Some juicing people are very energetic but don’t really explain the science or bio chemmistry behind what’s going on when we juice fruits and vegetables, but Ellen is loaded with information. I have one of her books now (Arthritis: An Alternative Medicine Definitive Guide) to and it is a great read, easy to understand and you get educated whilst you read.

Ellen isn’t just a juice person she has lots of qualifications under her belt but more importantly that she has actively worked with many many patients and See’s results first hand. Check Ellen outat her website http://www.naturalnurse.com/
